Born on December 13, 1936, in Millington, TN, to the union of Dan Phillips and Hattie Mae Clements. Doris lived a life full of love, service, and joy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive A.M.E Church where she served faithfully.
In 1963, Doris relocated to California, where she built a life centered around her family and career. Family was always her greatest joy, and she took pride in raising her 5 children: Anthony, Bennett, Vicky, Stacie and Frederick. She cherished her role as a grandmother to 16 grandchildren and took immense pride in her growing legacy of great-grandchildren whose laughter and love filled her heart. She was a compassionate and dedicated professional in the health care industry, serving as a Ward Clerk and Home Care provider for over three decades, from 1970 to 2004. She was also certified as a Nail Technician. Her hard work and care for others left an unforgettable mark on countless lives.
In her later years, Doris embraced the beauty of travel, spending the past two decades visiting her children and their families across the country in California, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia. She even returned to her roots of Tennessee for a short stint. She never slowed down to let grass grow under her feet. Her vibrant spirit, elegant ways, classy nails, boundless love, and the wisdom she shared will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
