Obituary

Mrs. Elyse Jean Hall Reid, age 77 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Elyse was born and raised in Millington, TN.  She always loved learning, which was nurtured by her parents, Priestly and Jeanette Hall.  Elyse graduated from Woodstock High School class of 1962 where she was very active in school and enjoyed running track.  Her love of learning led her to Nashville, TN, where she attended and graduated from Tennessee State University (Tennessee A&I) and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education.  She would later earn her Master's degree from Peabody College Nashville.

Education was always her passion, and throughout her career, she received several teachers of the year honors.  Elyse spent 35 years as a teacher/educator, preparing a countless number of our children for success in life.  She retired as a teacher from Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in 2005.

Elyse was always devoted to the Lord; she was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, Nashville, TN.  Her strong faith helped her through life's challenges and she gained great satisfaction from her church work and from helping others.

There will be a visitation for Mrs. Reid on Sunday, March 13th from 11 - 11:55 a.m. with a memorial service to begin at 12 noon at Jones Grove M.B. Church, 366 Simmons Road, Munford, Tennessee 38058.
